The Queen's Park

Queen's Park takes its name from the sovereign Victoria, Queen of England from 1837 to 1901.

"On June 19th, 1896, the Ottawa Evening Journal published an article on the Queen's Park which consists of 30 acres, wooded and has a carousel, 8 minutes from Deschênes if we took the Hull-Aylmer Electric tram. A Victorian pavilion, architectural design built by the Victoria Yacht Club, destroyed by fire in 1921, adorned the park to the delight of boaters and families." Reported by: Sylvie Filion - The Aylmer Bulletin

"The park is undoubtedly the finest of the country. The beach, wonderful and inviting, is not at all dangerous as children can move nearly 300 feet from the edge of the beach" - The Ottawa Evening Journal
